JULY 2016

Congratulations to Pam Russell who has been awarded her Licentiateship of the Royal Photographic Society - her panel is shown in the RPS gallery.

 

MAY 2016

Ann Chown has been accepted as an Associate of the Royal Photographic Society for her Applied panel of the fishermen at Hastings. Click here to view.

 

We held our Annual Exhibition on Saturday 25th and Sunday 26th June and had 417 visitors over the two days. Thank you to all our visitors, and thank you to our members who displayed their images and helped make it so successful. We were honoured to have Councillor David Furness, Mayor of Battle, open the exhibition, and to have Battle's Deputy Mayor, Councillor Richard Jessop, also attending. Click here for a picture.

 

MARCH 2016

Congratulations to David Howse CPAGB who won a Merit Award Certificate in the KCPA Diamond Jubilee Trophy held on 12th March 2016 for his image "White Tailed Sea Eagle" (click here to view). Overall Battle came 25th with 134 points. To see the images entered, click here.

 

DECEMBER 2015

It is with sadness that we learned that Ken Clarke, the founder of Battle Camera Club (as it was then), died on 1st December. Happily, Ken was able to attend our 50th anniversary celebrations in June this year. Ian Rumley-Dawson, a member of Battle Camera Club for many years, has written a delightful memoire, which you can find by clicking here

 

OCTOBER 2015

Battle PS came a very creditable 4th out of 18 clubs who entered the Sussex Photographic Federation annual PDI Championship on Saturday 24th October. In the Development group Battle PS came joint 9th with 94 points. (Chichester were the winners with 102 points, so a close result.) In the Open group, Battle came 4th, again with 94 points, and Seaford the winners with 102 points. Chichester were the overall winners. The Ross Cup was held on Saturday 17th October, hosted by Eastbourne Photographic Society and judged by Caroline Colegate ARPS. Battle PS came 6th out of 37 clubs. Tonbridge Camera Club won the competition with 145 points - Battle had 138 points, so it was a very close run thing. David Howse's image, Squabbling White Tailed Sea Eagles, was chosen by the judge for comment and the image scored 19 (out of 20). The eight images used in the competition can be seen in the KCPA Ross Cup 2015 Gallery. Well done Battle - a very good result!

 

SEPTEMBER 2015

John Shipp LRPS CPAGB has has two of his images accepted for two calendars for next year: the Rolvenden Village Calendar and the Freshwater Habitats Trust Calendar. His images can be found by clicking here.

 

Members of the club took photographs at St Michael's Hospice Fabulously Vintage Fair on 19th September - a selection of the images are in the Gallery (click here). 

 

April 2015

A good afternoon for Battle PS on Saturday 11th April at the Sussex Photographic Federation's Annual Print Competition; Richard Tickner won the Best Print of the Day Trophy for Anna's Bedroom, which also won the Gold Medal in the Open Section. The Silver Medal in the Open Section was won by David Howse for Small Flock of Dalmation Pelicans. The Gold Medal in the Development Section was won by Pauline Taylor with Entrance - and a Judge's Medal in the Development Section for Kathy Kiley for Budding Stage of an Amaryllis. Battle PS came third in the Development Class and joint second in the Open Class and third overall. Congratulations to all our trophy and medal winning members! March 2015

The KCPA held its Diamond Jubilee Trophy on Saturday 21st March judged by Monica Weller FRPS; Battle PS came a very creditable 4th overall out of 37 clubs who entered with 124 points.
